The hydraulics on my TED20 are not working correctly, I belief a have wrongly installed the hydraulic control valve which does not seem to slide in and out when the heigh control lever is raised or lowered, should the valve slide in and out when the control lever is raised or lowered? Also it seemed to be incredably difficult to fit the small balls on the hydraulic control valve back into the levers. Iam wondering if I have fitted the hydraulic control valve upside down, could this explain why it was so difficult to re-install? Will the valve only work one way up? The small shaft coming from the hydraulic valve with the two small balls on apprars to have two raised parts nest to each ball, should these raised parts face the seat or the floor? When refitting the valve is it easier to gain access from the drain plug or from the side inspection plates?
Iam a bit concerned that my hydralic control valve is not slidding in and out, but it took me so long to fit, I only want to fiddle with it if it should definatley slide in and out when the height control arm is raised or lowered, which it is not currently doing
many thanks
Mike

Mike, Yes the valve should slide in and out when operating the control lever. The tabs on the control valve "T" should face down. Yes it can be a pain in the neck getting the "T" back into the fork. If you have a support braket on the forks remove at least one side. If you post the serial number of your machine it would help. Several series have occilator rods of verying types that attach to the control valve. Some are held with small circlips that fall off and the rod inhibits free valve movement. When removing the valve it is easy to dislodge the clip. The rod runs from the control valve through a cam operated bushing that causes the valve to vibrate when the pump is running. This helps to keep the valve from sticking. Good luck and if you need more info feel free to write direct.

The valve may not be sliding in and out, because the lower half of the forks inside have been turned to the back of the tractor, they should be pointing towards the front of the tractor.

I may be wrong as I have never taken out the control valve.
