What's the proceedure for changing the gaskets for the cover plates(?) on the sides of the trans., hydraulic pump casing or whatever it's called. The one doesn't look like a problem but the other one with the lever sticking out of it scares me. I hope I've explained this right.

Another thing; my oil-bath air cleaner is rusted through. Anyone know where a replacement could be procured? Would one from an 8n work?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can furnish.

Tyler

Tyler,
Changing the gaskets is a simple procedure, all you need to ensure is that the inner end of the PTO lever is correctly engaged. If you have any doubts, get a workshop manual where everything is explained with photos and simple text. It makes the job 100% easier if you have an idea as to what you are doing.
Hope this helps,
Pete.

Thanks, Pete. I have a manual but it's missing the section that explains what I'm doing, of course. I'll make sure I keep the lever lined up.

If you pull the cover off with the dip stick and have a look in with a torch and the oil level is low enough you can clearly see the engaugement of the lever and then you can be sure you have the engaugment correct upon reinstallation. I find it pays to put a bit of goo on the threads of the lower bolts as the oil will tend to find its way out along the threads of the bolts.
