Tire man is comming to replace the inner tube on my rear tire. The service charge is $60 to come here, the tire work is only $40. I was thinking it might be worth getting him to do something else if it costs so much for a visit. The tires are original ( a little dry rotted, a little cut up) but servicible so I don't feel like replacing them. I was thinking of having them spread the front wheels as they are as narrow as they go and I have one slight hill to mow. How far should I go? Doesn't it stress the front end to overlly space the wheels? Maybe I should leave well enough alone.

Might as well replace both tubes, the good one is just as old as the one that broke usually. Widening the front tires over 72" will stress the bearings considerably and should only be done when absolutly necessary. It's easy to do with front raised-block under the axle pivot casting so front axle is free. Rears are ok anywhere. I set all 4 out to 72" to mow the pond dam, makes it look like a big spider from a distance but I'm still here!
