TO-20 Oil ports plugged

I think that my oil ports in my engine are plugged. I removed the valve cover today to discover that some of my valves and part of my valve cover have begun to rust. I know this isn't right. The tractor has been making an onoying clicking noise and I thought that maybe the valves were out of adjustment. Is there way to flush the enging our to clean out these ports? any help will be appreciated

Commerical engine flush is available at supply stores. You can make your own with kerosene; stanisol is a brand name for Standard Oil Co. parts cleaner that works good. Remove filter and install new one, add 2 qts. oil and top off with kerosene. run at 1/3 throttle for 10 min. then drain and do it again. If the valve springs are surrounded by sludge, that must be cleaned out first or you will just stop up the return passages further.If your engine's that bad, remove the pan and clean it also, if your're careful you can remove it without ruining the gasket but new ones are at the MF dealer. That's how I'd do it.
