I just recently purchased a ferguson tractor with serial # 47987 which should be a 1951 TO 20 but the engine is casted Z-129 and not a Z-120 which all the charts are listing.Can someone please tell what machine I have?

The Z-129 is from a TO-30 and they will bolt right up to the TO-20 from what I've read. So if you are looking for a working tractor you've got extra HP. If your looking to restore to original then you have an engine swap to do.

I agree with Russell. You've got a TO-20 that someone bolted a Z129 on. It's not uncommon; I've got one myself. Many years ago, I left the tractor out one winter (young & dumb). The block froze & cracked and a Z120 just wasn't available. Dad found a pinned Z129 with all the parts and we put it on. It runs like a top. I'll send you a photo if you want. Another possibility is that the steering column that has the nameplate on it broke and someone switched it. Check the axle housing bolt holes. TO-20's have an 11 hole housing while TO-30's have a 15 hole housing. One last thing - on both tractors, the lift cover has the part number in the casting and it's the same for both EXCEPT for the last letter. TO-20's end in the letter A while TO-30's end in the letter B.
