Tiller- ? crazy idea

Guys,

I would love to have a tiler for my tractor but at $1,000 it seems steep. What if I got some old used front tine tillers and weld them onto a steel bar and jury rig a three point hitch. The blades would turn in the oposite direction of the tractor's movement. I'd use the Zane thang with it. You would probably have to go slow and gradually drop the tiler on multiple passes. Has anyone ever tried this?

Thanks

Frank

I think your idea sounds interesting and I wish you good luck with this project. These are the kind of projects that I find most interesting. One thing that came to mind when I read your post is that the forward speed of the tractor may be too fast unless you have a hi/low transmission. Usually a tiller must move forward very slowly while the tines do the work. Keep us posted.
