I paid $3000.00 for my 1948 Fergy. Burns no oil, sounds good, no rust, no dents, good paint, think it has a Sherman trans. in it and tires are so so. Also got a 5 ft. bush hog and a 5ft. grader blade with it and got a Wood's RM59 mower for $10.00 more. Did I do OK? Please don't hold back I want to know. I live in Southeastern Indiana.

I got a 52 to30 about 6 years ago. Has a wagner loader. Condition was about like you describe. Used it for 5 years really heavy and decided it was unwise to listen to the knocking that developed after a year or so. I then overhauled the engine. Paid $3000 plus a couple hundred for the overhaul parts. You got a grader, brush hog and mower. I got the loader. I don't think I got took. I don't think you did either.

I purchased a '53 TO-30 two months ago. It seems to run great but the rear main seal is so bad that I have to stop every 45 to 60 minutes to refill the crankcase with oil. It came with a 5 ft. TSC Husky brush mower in good condition. All for $2,000.

I would say that with the blade and finish mower you did OK.

Like any of this "elderly" used equipment - you pays your money and you takes your chances.

I plan to do a thorough overhaul on my engine this summer so I'll have $3,000 in in no time at all.

Good luck, Boogity in SW Ohio
