I have an old 1949 Ferguson TE-20 and the hydralic lift oil is low. I need to add some but someone told me to make sure it was 80-90W. I know gear oil to be this heavy but always though hydralic oil to be around 10W. So I'm unsure as to what I need. Any ideas? Also I just want to be sure that it does go in through the nut near the gear shifter?

David, You want 80-90w mineral oil nothing else. It is hydraulic oil not gear oil and non-foaming. It can be had from tractor dealers in bulk. Look for an outfit that deals with older equipment. I just purchased some for about $5.00 bucks a gallon. You will need 5 gallons for that tractor. Yes it fills from the plug near the gear shift. Make sure if you are just adding that you give it time to equilize through the housing before you believe the dipstick. Don't overfill or you'll have a mess.
