PTO shaft installation

I'm afraid I might have troubles! I pulled the PTO shaft out of my TO 30 last night so I could replace the seal. Well, I had to really work to get the shaft out sooooo, how do you get the shaft back in???? I used a crowbar to get it out so I hope there is a correct way to get it back in without lots and lots of force. Any help would be appreciated, I need to mow my yard tomorrow. Oh yeal, the shaft appears to be straight and not twisted. ????? ?

ErnieD is right it should slip back in. If the hyd pump has been replaced and not centered per the manual, the shaft could be in a slight bind. You already have the oil drained so loosen the pump plate bolts enough to slide it sideways easily then replace the PTO shaft. snug up the pump bolts a little and engage the pump. This will allow the pump to center on the shaft. When the shaft and pump are'nt centered, the pump will make a knocking noise. That's what the owners manual says. Good luck! Ray,IN

Supposed to slip right back in, no real force. Real close visual inspection...
