I am going to buy my first Ferguson this week end. It has no ser. or mod. number to be found. The only thing I can find that stands out is it has an high low transmission in it. I know a few other people that have old Fergusons none with the high low. Can anybody help me with the year or years it was built? Thanks.

John - if there is a engine serial number, please post it as that will be helpful. Also casting numbers from the rear axles and the transmission housing can provide clues.

One thing I learned over the weekend that I haven't seen posted here: I bought a junker TO-30 & was tearing it down. The TO-30 axle housings had 15 bolts each. My 2 TO-20's have 11 bolt holes in each axle housing. Look at the oil filter - if it's on the outside it's a Z129 which came on the TO-30. If the filter is on the inside of the oil pan - it's a Z120 which came on the TO-20, Beware...the motors will fit either tractor. Hope that helps
