These guys have thought of most everything that can cause this, Now that we know more of the details, I'm sure others have thought of sticking valves also. If some/all of the valve stems are rusted it may prevent the valve(s) from closing all the way. To identify sticking valves, remove the cover and assure that all the valves are returning to the closed position. This would account for the backfiring and the smoke could be the unburned fuel mixture. Thats another of my ideas-for what it's worth.

Since the tractor sat outside in all the weather, I'd say moisture is the problem. Assuming your engine is gasoline. The points are corroded, the plug wires are weathered, and probably the distributor cap is cracked due to water freezing in the wire cavities. First determine if the coil is receiving voltage from the battery; then are the points receiving voltage from the coil? Attack this from the beginning(the battery), and ensure each component is operating correctly. That's how I'd do it.

We're going to need more info to help. Does the engine turn over? If so, do you have spark at the plugs? If it hasn't run in awhile, likely the fuel system is gummed up. Have you cleaned or overhauled the carburetor? Do you have good fuel flow to the carb? etc... etc. Essentially, what have you tried and what does it do?

Question 1: The engine turns over.
Question 2: I have spark at the plugs.
Question 3: I have cleaned the carburetor.
Question 4: I had too good fuel flow to the carburetor.
Question 5: At first it just made a lot of noise, (back fire i think it is called in english)now it just makes a lot of "smoke" but that @@@@@ thing won't start. I cant think of anythig else i have tried.

Unhook air cleaner. Make sure it isn't clogged air passage. Then, as Rod says, squirt it with ether and see if it fires a time or two from that. If it does, likely gas problem. If not, likely electrical. I usually think electrical first, then gas, but after a long sit, and especially since you said you had spark at the plugs, i'm thinking fuel side is most likely problem. Do you know the gas is fresh, clean, and good?

The air cleaner is missing. And it does fire on ether, but not enuogh to turn over the motor.
The gas is brand new.
The electrical are old but it schould start with them. because I have tested them with a FLUKE, and there are a lot of spark, I felt it, beleve me. The carburaetors main fuel "vent" (the tiny hole the fuel flows throug and lead gas to the place where fuel and air is mixed inside the carburator), my father made one but it is not good enuogh, and I cant find one here in Norway That fits to a Zenith 24T-Standard, Carburator

check firing order of plugs also point gap. give it a shot of ether if it runs it is a fuel problem if it don't electrical is probably the cause. Now when my TEA was acting up one time it was the filter in the tank on the fuel strainer the tractor would run but stall backfire etc once I cleaned it up it was ok. It seemed to have good fuel flow but it was not enough for the tractor to run good on. Other problems could be cracked manifold or leaking carb gasket at manifold. If the points are even slightly off or dirty it will not go. regards
