TE20 repaired.....still problems

I can't believe the saga continues. Bought a Fergie that ended up with major problems. With the help of this forum decided to pin the block and do an engine overhaul. $1800 later still trouble !!! I was told to go home and work her to get every thing 'seated'. Well, first I had to control the gas leaks from the filter bowl and lines, was not in the mood to take it back. So finally got her going, hooked up the spreader, drove to the manure pit and was thinking that she sounded funny.....was spitting coolant out the overflow, which tells me he didn't do and test running. Also found she had no power, wanted to stall when I engaged the PTO and finally did, and wouldn't start. Did get her going with a spare battery, her's was dead after 3 cranks (6volt) and then I see oil leaking from the top gasket. Now I AM upset !!! So.. now I have a oil leak, poor power and I'm afraid to think what else. Other info: repaired starter, new battery cables, belt. I going to tell the repair shop they have to make things right but I need some input from Fergie people as to what went wrong and what I need to tell them. They do work on old tractors and came recommended.

Very sorry to hear about your troubles.
With the symptoms you described I would hazard a guess at a blown head gasket or at least one that is not sealing as it should. When you say oil is leaking from the top gasket I assume you mean the valve cover gasket. This is not a big deal although it should not happen on a fresh rebuild.
If it were me I would not run this engine any more until I talked with the person who did the work. If possible I would have them come over to the tractor to be there when it is started next. If not I would load it on a trailer (preferably without starting it) and haul it to them. No matter what the problem turns out to be, for the money you paid, there shouldn't be any problems at all with that engine.
Thats my opinion.
