Temp range for TO 30

Now that we are getting into the warmer months as well as bushogging season I am curious as to what is considered normal operating temparature as measured in farenheit by the temp guage.I am sensitive to overheating issues,but not sure at what temp operation becomes potentially hazardous to the engine.

What Phil is stating is the thermostat opening temp. So that means that means the 'stat starts to open at 160, and is full open at 180 degrees. Your TO may go hotter than 180 degrees and still not be "overheating" if it is being worked hard. Assuming you have a stock rad. cap rated for 7 pounds, your coolant temp. can rise to 232 degrees before it starts venting out the cap. If it gets that hot.... it's starting to overheat and you better throttle it back to figure out the problem. Most often the radiator fins are just full of chaff and needs sprayed out with a air hose.

If you are running a thermostat, and you should be, it should control the temp roughly between 160 and 180, depending on the thermostat.

Hi Phil,Thanks for your response.Does the 160 - 180 degree range mean that at temps higher than 180 the tractor should be allowed to cool back down or what temp is the max operating temp before risking damage.?
