Freinds of mine run their TE20's on unleaded petrol, they seem to run just the same as with leaded petrol, will it do the engine any harm to use unleaded?, if so what?

Mine too. The 6.5/1 compression of the Z129 engine is below the range of "high compression", and runs quite well on todays gas.

I was wondering if i could be sent as much information on leaded and unleaded petrol as possible.perhaps information on how leaded fuel is more harmful than unleaded and maybe statistical figures of the drop in Air pollution and consequently adverse health effects either in the form of bar charts, pie charts or just percentage drops or rise. thank you

I was told by my father-in-law that you needed the lead for lubricating the valves, so a lead substitute should be added. I have done this to my 48 TO20 and my 51 chevy p.u. and the price is'nt to bad. Glenn

IMHO - not needed. THe lead is only needed in old higher speed engines to cushion the valve seats when they close hard and frequently. The lead provides NO lubrication, that's what the oil is for. I've been around Model T's, A's and every other kind of old car and tractor for over 50 years and never has had problems with lack of lead. Nor has anyone I've known.
