Maybe its just me, but:

I noticed that many times the person who asked a question or for information never comes back to acknowledge that they even read the help replys given or if it helped them.

It would be nice for people who ask questions to just say thanks that was helpful or Sorry but that didn't help me.

Or even say that was the dumbest suggestion I ever heard, at least you would know they read the reply.

You guys/gals have a great day, if you do not have a smile, then take one of mine.

If it weren't for the great folks on this forum, my TO20 would still be sitting in a field getting swallowed by Kudzu. I try to acknowledge all the help I get, but sometimes it might take me a couple of weeks to get the parts I need and to get the time to crawl back under the tractor to see if the recommendations fix the problem. I am very appreciative of all comments, but don't want to clog up the forum with too many messages, so I try to keep it short and sweet.

Hey there;
Yea I know, it ain't Ferguson, but about two-
three weeks ago, a local "big time"auctioneer came to my neighbor's paint shop, to pick up his IH M. they had a hard time getting it started, and when it started it didn't sound
right. Normally I keep my big mouth shut, but
I walked over, told them it sounded "out of time".But the wires were crossed, I switched
them, and it "purred like a kitten". That arse
hole never even said "thanks" GRRR never again. Bob
God Bless

From my perspective...Minimal Engine mechanical ability, the guy's here are like kindergarten teachers. VERY PATIENT. I do make an effort to directly thank people who dive in and work on these problems. I know what happens when you take things people do for you for granted. I am very grateful for this site and all the wonderful people I have encountered here. Make this site your home page today.

Sincerely, John Mason

I know what you mean. Not that a thank you is required. That's not what anyone is looking for...

But, as you point out... Did the old Girl get going again. We want to know.

so often it's unknown if the question asker even read the responces to go try.

Also, as many point out we want to know how something worked out. As Bob points out we know the stuff we've had to work on, but there are parts unknown that we havent tackled.

I also would like to give a big thanks to the help I've gotten from everyone. I know a lot of theory and the "book learnin'" to explain how and why things work... but grease under the nails and the nuts and bolt turning expierence of the group is priceless.

Jeff

I am an avid reader of these forums to learn, as I am far from a "tractor expert".
I notice three problems:

1. Many post questions here with far too little information to obtain accurate, relevant replies. I have seen many questions which don't specify whether the tractor is a TE, TEA, TO, model, year, 6 volt or 12 volt, Standard or Continental engine, gasoline, TVO or diesel etc. All Fergys are not created equal - or the same! If questions contained even the Serial Number, responses should be far more relevant.

2. Posts here ask for leads on obtaining parts - with no indication as to whether the user is based in Akron or Zanzibar!! I have seen a number of requests for used parts, easily available to me here in Australia and I would be happy to help, but due to lack of a user's location, I automatically assume they are in the USA.

3. I have a fair idea of how the front end of a Fergy works, but the transmission and hydraulics are still a bit of a mystery. Posting feed back gives me far more information on whether the diagnosis/suggestion worked. Besides, I think we all occasionally appreciate a "thank you" when a problem is solved.

Just my two cents worth!
You all have a great weekend!

Bob in Oz!

Maxwell,
"Thats the d..." Just pulling your chain. I agree that it would be most helpful if feedback was given more often. Not to an individual answer or suggestion but just to let us know what worked (or didn't) so we can learn and folks searching the forum can find answers in addition to repeats of the same question and the same suggested fixes. For example: If you rebuild your lift and it cycles and jumps at the top of its travel then John(UK) suggests you have your sway chain brackets on upside down. You can fix it, be too embarrassed to admit it and go on, or you can let the forum know what worked and we all benefit. By the way - Thanks John!
