TO-35 reverse gear available? help!

I posted on the massey forum but it seems the TO35 is duscussed here also. I have the opportunity to buy a TO35 with a backhoe and loader, but was told by the owner that the reverse gear is stripped (maybe the revese idler?) and that he has had no luck finding a replacement. Seems the people he has talked to know what he needs but cant get it. He was told that it was a design problem which was updated with newer models, so not many were made like this. Anyone ever hear of this? I would like to fix this tractor and use it but dont want to get stuck with some scrap iron! Can anyone shed some light on this?
