When i got the TO35 gas 12 volt Gen it didnt have a battery in it, Is it possible to be neg. ground to make the starter button not work while grounded in the dash. Thanks again. James

Early TO-35s had a 6v, positive ground system. The later 12v version had a negative ground.

You stated your TO35 has a gen So to my knowledge it should be positive ground. How ever that would not keep the start switch from working. Check and clean all electrical connection on both heavy and light gage wiring. take extra care with the nuetral switch on the high low shift lever.this seems to be a weak point, jumper around it try a start.If it starts then check the neutral swich for wear or not properly adjusted.

Sounds like great advice, D Stock. I agree with you. I would like to point out some of the later 35s had 12 volt negative ground systems with generators (not alternators). I owned one at one time.
