Probably the easiest way to do the conversion is to contact Genesee Products. You can find their site under parts supppliers on this page. They sell everything you need to convert with the possible exception of the mount for the alternator.
I don't know of any place that has a step by step for a TEA. I think there might be a link from the Genesee site to an article for converting an 8N which may be helpful.
I'm in the process of rebuilding my TO-20 and it will include a 12v conversion but I'm not there yet so I can't provide any help from experience.

First the 12V system. Unless you have excess money you need to get rid of, why convert to 12V? As I have said many times, a properly maintained 6V system will perform just as well as a properly maintained 12V system. All the componet parts are readily available for 6V, and IF you use them the original electricial system works fine. My TO30 is all original and always starts. Do not use 12V battery cables, they won't carry the needed current. If you are determined to change to 12V look at the link here. The spark plug wires must be contunious stranded wire, not the automotive graphite type. Carquest auto parts stores carry H.Ferguson electrical componets, plug wires, points&condenser etc. Your local MF dealer should have them also.

well first of all the 6v system isnt charging the battery properly and the headlights are VERY dimm even when running full board. Also 6v batteries arent the chepest things going. just thought it to be more efficient being 12v.

Lets fix all that. The headlights are grounded through the hood, thats 2 swivel connections for the lights, 2 swivels for the hood. This is not good connection; if you run a gnd wire from each light into 1 gnd wire that's connected to the motor somewhere it will eliminate the dim lights. Rural King stores a 6V tractor battery for $39.95. The generator is adjustable for output. The 3rd brush does it, but you need to measure output to adjust the brush. I had my gen. restored and adjusted for about $65,just tell the shop you want the battery to remain charged with short, occasional use. Well- that's my story, I hope your situation works out. Ray,IN
