Does any body here know a good way to remove the lift arms, I am in the process of restoring my lift system (TEA-20-80) Some idiot has removed the better part of the lift arms, because the system was not working. But it is almost up to speed now, bur I have to remove the old lift arms. The work shop manual says just "to pull it off" Hmm, easy to say. It seems quite stuck. Any advice is very welcome. Klaus

The lift arms fit on the lift shaft which has a lot of small splines and dirt, dried grease, rust, etc. make it very hard to slide the arm off. Jeff-oh suggested penetrating oil and that is the first "convincer" to try. If the bushings will move, you can drive the shaft inward some and the bushing on the far side may slide outward just a bit. Don't drive it far though because the internal lift arm is on the same shaft and you don't want to cause it to move unless you are going to take the lift cover off and reposition everything. Once you move the arm a little bit you can use a jaw-type gear puller to complete the removal. Then solvent and a wire brush will transform the arm's personality.

Which parts are you specificly talking about?

The Upper Lift arms attached to the top and with the "U" shaped ends?

The Drag links (middle pieces) right one is usually adjustable.

or the Lower lift arms. the ones that attach to the implements.

I think you are talking about the upper lift arms.
Remove the two bolts on the retainer plate. Remove the retainer and slide off...

Yes!!! Easy to say... In practice???

All I could suggest is penetrating oil and a rubber or dead blow mallet to try to loosen.

Jeff
