I have a TO 20 parts tractor, good trans bad engine. What other engines will bolt to the trans.

I have no personal experience with engine swaps in these tractors, but as I understand it from posts on this forum, the only engine that bolts up to the TO-20 (other than the Z120 which came in it) is the Z129, which is the engine from the TO-30"s. e.g., I know the Ford engines won"t work within reason.

How bad is the engine and how bad do you need to get the tractor in operation? These engines are easily rebuilt so if you have the time and the interest you can save a few bucks and "do it youself" with help from a local machine shop if you need machine work. Otherwise, a remanufactured short block is ~$1500 and a complete engine(short block + cylinder head) is ~$2000+

It's cracked between the sleeves and repaired with threaded rod (old repair). Just hate to see a tractor junked.

Cracks between the cylinders were commonin the Z series continentals. My original engine was repaired like that. It can be rebuilt. The rods hold the cracks together. As long as there is no leaking of coolant into the crankcase, you should be able to resleeve the engine.

An alternative is furnace brazing which is the fix that was used in my remanufactured engine. Check with local machine shops. it"s a common process used on indutrial tractors( loaders, backhoes, etc)

I am sure someone else will tell you what other engines will fit. I just saw a TO 20 engine on ebay
