Snickawel has your answer (1954 TEA-20).

You have a 20-85 standard motor co. engine. That means the engine is bored out ot 85MM in each cylinder.

Aussie.

Fergy model designators make sense to me!

HOGs are something that make far too much noise and can't keep up to my E Type Jag, another quality product from Coventry, UK!

:D

G'Day Aussie - and welcome to a great forum, from another Aussie in the Sunshine State.

TEA simply signifies it is a standard British built Fergy with the Standard engine, in your case, the later 85 mm bore. Almost the entire alphabet is available after the "TE", depending on model - refer here for model designators.

If you look at the right side of the diff casing, between the "port hole" cover (with dip stick) and gear box flange, you will find the date the casting was made. The tractor production date was a few weeks later.

My casing has "6 7 3" indicating a casting date of 6 July 1953.

Low or high exhaust was optional. I think they all came from the factory with low exhaust however it appears most Fergy's in Australia were modified as the low exhaust causes bush fires!!!

I was of the belief that the "A" was the designation for the Australian model. But I really don't know for sure. Perhaps the only visible difference for the Aussie versions was the upswept exhaust rather than the conventional "pommie" automotive style travelling horizontally low to the ground. It's just a guess.

No. It was always 12 volt, negative earth, ex factory.

The engine is a Standard Motor Co engine, 85 mm bore, not a Continental engine.

Nice tractor!!!

Ray for your info TO and TE 20 use same engine and the HP is 26.5, TO 30 is 30.27 HP,TEA20-80=23.9hp, TEA 20-85=28.2hp. Don't worry about made in England if you are thinking about future parts purchases. They seem to be as readily available as the TO's that were built in the US. Also a great web site is www.fergusonenthusiasts.com while visiting that site you may like to pull an application form to become a member. It is only $15 per year & includes 5 magazines per year. Enjoy the Fergie and bring your questions to the best Fergie Forum, right here. Richard
