But, for comparison sake,

Figure 2X16" would plow best @ 8" deep. That's 24" X 8", or 192 sq in.

A 3X12" plow would work best @ 6" deep. so 36 X 6", or 216 sq in.

2X14", 24" X 7", or 168 sq in. As you can see, a 2X14" plow would work the tractor considerably less, while only giving up 4" in width to the 2X16".

Most "newer" 3-point plows, those built in the 1960's and later, use same shins, mouldboards, ect, on 14" and 16" bottoms, allowing same or similar plowing depth. Some brands offered bottoms meant to plow much deeper than 1/2 of width.

If it were me, I'd want 2X12" or 2X14" behind a TO-30 in average soil conditions. That is a good price though, especially if the plow is in good condition. Most anything that'll turn dirt over will bring $300 to $400 here.

I have one of these for my TO-35, much eaiser to pull and breaks the ground up good. Now it will not turn grass over, but its a great tool. Do not know why Ferguson did not sell more of them.

Leaves the ground level, no plow furrows to deal with.

I have a TO-35 with the orginal 3-12" plow setup.
What were they thinking when they put 3 plows on a TO-35, back when it was new and if the ground had been broken before it pulled them ok. They do a great job, leave ground level and follow behind tractor almost like a trailer if tractor tires are set properly.

Guess old tractor is a lot like me, not as strong as we were in the past. Last spring I tried to break up some grass land that had not been broken is many years. To say the least we had a fit breaking it up.

Note: 3-12" equals a 36" cut 2-16" equals a 34" cut

From my experience you would be more satisfied with a set of 2-12" or 2-14" plows, I know the little tractor would be.
