Most leak down situations are caused by leakage of the lift cylinders seals. The other leak path is the gasket or O-ring on the supply pipe to the lift cover that"s located in the upper front right hand corner of the hydraulic compartment. To check the lift cylinder, put an implement on the hitch, remove the access plate on the right hand side, start the engine and engage the pump/pto. UNDER NO CIRCUMSATNCES PLACE YOU HANDS IN THE HYDRAULIC COMPARTMENT WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. Move the lift lever to the full up position and look up toward the top of the compartment and look for leakage from the cylinder. Any more than a few drops is a leak. The seals can be worn, the cylinder cracked or scored, etc. Another posibility is a stuck open relief valve. Look down near the base of the pump. If there noise and a a lot of turbulence, there may be some debris caught in the relief valve holding it open. To check the supply pipe to the lift cover, use a flashlight and a mirror to look in the upper right front corner for leakage at the top of the verticle supply pipe. John(UK) recommends you do this check from the left side access cover and you won"t need the mirror. Leaky cylinders require the lift cover be removed as does the leaking supply pipe. The relief valve can be removed from the access port.
