TO35 ALTERNATOR

My friend had one, it came on a early model MF 165, alternator with gear driven tach option.

Might check out the early years of MF 165, however, when you check price, you may decide a good generator rebuild in best for you.

I have had the generator setup on my TO-35 for over 50 years and little Ferg will fire right off. Get a heavy battery, insure you have #1 size wire cables, thats what little Fergs came with, many cables have been replaced over the years with junk cables. NAPA can get these for you, but not cheap. Have your generator serviced or check to be sure its generating proper current levels and you should be good to go, watch amp gauge, if it not moving center to charge, regulator may not be working proper, new regulators are not as heavy made as orginal units.

Also make sure tractor is properly tuned: plugs wires, pts etc: You should be set to go.

By doing this you will still have an operational tach. I would be lost with out the tach.

I have notice a electronic device to replace points. This might be a good investment.

A good regulator, a set of new brushes, and new bearings will keep the old generator running for a long time. I've put 20 years on my MF-135 with the generator. It had a new regulator but I had to adjust it and its worked fine ever since. I get 6 to 8 years battery life and the last few years have run a 12 amp sprayer pump on it half a day at a time. Can't afford the loss of the tachometer when an alternator won't work better.
