The way to remedy a possible overheat situation is to drill a small hole on the side of the T-stat, typically on the mounting flange that will allow air that might be trapped behind it to escape. With tractor stat"s this becomes artistic to drill a hole that will allow air to escape and not interfere with the workings of the aparatus. Like I said, a small hole will work just fine.

The thermostat on my ferguson is the second one to have air trapped this year. it seems like I would learn and drill a hole as you suggest. I think the hole needs to be positioned at the top as well. The one in my Rover came with the hole already drilled.

I did this whn I installed the t-stat in my 65. I used a Ford application and drilled a hole to vent the air. It worked perfectly. Just wish I had went to the hotter t-stat as I am running ethylene glycol, not the original alcohol. It holds at 160 degrees all day long.
