TO-20 Hydrolics

How do you hook into the hydrolic system on a TO-20. Do you hook the lines into the two jam nuts on the side of the tractor under the seat. I would like to hook up a woodsplitter to my TO-20 but I am not too sure how to hook into the hydrolics. Any help will be apreciated.

I have used my TO 20 to split wood with for over 25 years. I return the oil to the diff. drain plug. I made a telescoping wedge out of sq, tubing that fits between the top link and where the drawbars would normally be. Inner sq. tubing has a bunch of holes so I can set the splitter down and drop a pin in to keep the lift arms from raising. Mine is verticle beam splitter and I use 2 cyls. A 4inch to split with a a smaller one to return the wedge. I think it takes about 15 seconds to travel 24 inches on the down stroke. Much faster on the up stroke. Much of the time you do not need it to travel the full 24 inches when splitting .

It's possible, but you may not like the results. The pump inside the transmission housing has enough pressure but the flow will be slow. Also when the splitter starts to build up pressure the three point hitch will raise to its maximum. You may want to chain it down. Now you must have a pressure line and a return line. there should be a pipe plug on the top left side of the transmission housing by the seat. This could be used as a pressure source, but I'm not sure where the return would go. I've started to investigate this but I don't have all the information.

Would a Zane Thang keep the 3 point in one position while using the woodsplitter.

I've never seen a zane thang but I assume it connects the 3 point to the control lever and this would not work.
