For Your Information:

Was at Arco dealer yesterday picking up a few parts for the TO-35.

Told him I had a NAPA oil filter for the tractor, he showed me the orginal equipment oil filter they offer and it was only $5.xx. Less than I paid for the 1010 gold at NAPA.

Will be buying from them next year.

Do you mean Agco? dealer?
The reason I ask is that I've been looking for a Massey Dealer around my parts and would search you name a little further.

Mark, my bad, guess its Agro, still have not gotten over the sale of MF to Agro.

You go into the AC dealer (Agro) and are for the most part treated like second class citizens.

They will wait on you if a real Agro owner is not in line for parts.

Had to argue for a bit with some young parts dude to get him to order me a 2 1/2 gal container of transmission/hydraulic oil for the old TO-35.

Wanted M1103, 90Wt mineral oil, he said the area rep had told him the AC oil he had in stock would work just fine in a Ferguson.

Told him Ferguson oil had worked just fine in my tractor for 50 years and I was not about to put any cheap who knows what weight AC - WD-45 oil in my Ferguson, no matter what his AC rep said.

I ask him were the next closest Ferguson dealership was and for the phone # of the area rep.

All of sudden Ferguson oil was available, but he would have to order it and it was pricy.

Told him to get it on order and better get a stock in as other Ferguson owners would want it.

Not all parts people are like that BUT there are far too many that are, they think they are doing you a favour by supplying the parts, they don't realise that is people like you who keep them in work and it doesn't matter how much or how little you order. A lot of these guys think that they know more than you and that is where they go wrong, their general attitude towards you the customer immediately puts your back up when you walk in the place, this is totally unacceptable and they should be given training on how to handle customers. If you have problems with parts, the main warehouse for MF parts is at Batavia and I am sure they would be able to help you if necessary. I regret that you had to experience such bad manners and totally inefficient service....John
PS. Harry Ferguson used to visit the dealers and woe betide ANYONE who did not know what he was supposed to be doing, so the guy with the oil would have had a real rocket from him, he did not like that kind of thing at all.

The truth be known, the kid has probably NEVER even started a tractor. Let alone-should be advising about parts.
We'll see in 50 years if there will even be any of the new plastic crap they call tractors even out there.
I can remember the first time I took my 69 year old dad into a Harbor Freight and they had some Chinese Red tractor out front.
We walked out and he said in discust, " wow a store with "JAP-ON" tools and "Allis-Chinese" tractors". And he wasn't laughin when he said it.
The damn instructions on the dash of the tractor where written in Chinese.
As the members of the "Greatest Generation" fade away--the members of the next generation getting closer to the same fate.
