I have a 1954 to30 with a rockford clutch and have just replaced the clutch disc witch was badly oiled up. I have tried adjusting the clutch but can't quite get it to release all the way.I don't seem to have enough foot pedal clearance. The clutch disc I bought was just a heavy duty one for the to30. It doesn't look like the cushioned one it the manual. If I take off the foot rest and the combined brake arm I can put a bar in the hole and press it down far enough to dissengage the clutch. In the manual it talks about a replacement brake pedal that offers 5 inches of travel instead of the 4 inches and I think this would solve my problem. The question is where can I locate one of these revised pedals? THANKS

I have never heard of a pedal for giving more travel and I have worked on them for fifty or more years. (the only other pedal is one from a TEF diesel, just what the difference is I have no idea never having had them side by side, they don't list an alternative pedal for a TO type at all)If the pedal shaft is free and the pedal does not stick down AT ALL, there should be a 3/8" clearance under the footrest when you press the pedal to take up the free play, if all this is correct then you need to alter the height of the levers on the Clutch itself, this will make it separate more to allow the plate to run free instead of slightly dragging as it is now. There will be wear in the pivot points of the levers and that will prevent the Clutch from opening sufficiently, it would possibly be ok with a part worn plate as this would not be as thick as a new one especially a heavy duty type as no doubt that will be slightly thicker...John
