1. Heat;

2. Socket and a long bar; or
3. If all else fails, a grinder, a drift and a big hammer!

Replacement bolts are available from any nut and bolt supplier. I bought high tensile, around $4.00 each.

I tried to remove the bolt that attaches the radius rod to the axle, but it is stuck. I suspect it is slightly bent. Any suggestions?

John.

Any thoughts on how to straighten the radius rods?
They are hollow, fairly thin walls and one attempt I had at straightening one in a press a few years ago resulted in the tube flattening - but the curve remained! Not sure heat would give any better result.

Nice seat! Would make any grey Fergy purist cry! :lol:

Yeah. It was a Christmas present from the wife. The old one has not seen its last days, I assure you! ...but the new one is very comfy.

Bob, isn't that the bolt that holds it in?

When you remove the Head from a Standard engine NEVER turn the engine over without first fastening the cylinder liners down or they may move and damage the gasket underneath that they sit on and it may leak and it is a big job to change them. You should also check the liners of the engine that they stand proud of the Block face by .005" - .011" or it may leak compression across two cylinders and blow the head gasket between or it could blow into the water jacket. If you don't change the axle pin and bush and straighten the Radius rods, there is a danger that the axle beam will strike the bottom hose connection on the Radiator and break it.Changing the pin and bush etc. will make the tractor much more pleasant and easier to drive as it will bring all the dimensions back to the original specification...John

The photo is OK from my work computer, different ISP.

From the radius rod bend I suspect the front axle pivot pin bush has passed it's use by date, and whilst you're there, a new front crank shaft seal would not go amiss!!!

Nice seat! Would make any grey Fergy purist cry! :lol:

I can't see your last photo. It is hosted at a different site (www.soakes.com) than the earlier photos (www.tractorshed.com) and won't open.
May be the soakes.com site is down or my ISP (Bigpond) is blocking the site?

Looking at the curve in the left radius rod in the second last photo, I suspect you have a fairly worn pivot bearing or pin in the front axle.

Whilst you have it stripped back that far you may care to change the axle pivot pin bush. I bought a pin and bush in the last week, think the bush was $15 and the pin $55 - approx Aus$70 for both. If you decide to change them, inspect the pin as it may not require replacement. Also, there are cheaper sources of parts supply than my local farm equipment dealer..... ...

Very hard to see but out of curiosity, is that a grease nipple I think I can see into the front axle pivot pin?
