TO 20 steering shaft bearing

I have been having trouble with the steering shaft on my tractor wanting to rotate upward, when turning. I took the upper housing off and the shaft out, and there i think was my problem. It looks like there used to be a bearing, about in the middle of the shaft, is this right?. are there two bearings. one in the top, and one in the bottom. and is there a timken cone on the bottom as well. need some input thank you randy,from TX.

The best manual is probably the original factory manual, which I have.

However, I personally find the Gregory's manual the easiest to use for most tasks.

P.S. Whilst the cover says "TE20" it does not include the Continental engine, only the Standard engine.

Identical bearings top and bottom, cup, cone and cage. Nothing in the middle.

If memory serves me, there was a bearing on Fleabay last nite or two for the steering shaft less than $5.00 Try ferguson tractor or to20 and it might come up.
