Injection pump leak

Hi everyone; I discovered a pretty severe leak in my TO-35 (23C engine) injection pump fuel cutoff control. Fuel is leaking where the cutoff control exits the pump. After tightening the linkage, which did'nt help, I tried an o-ring as well as a gasket between the linkage and pump housing, neither worked. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on stopping the leak, since a pump replacement would probably cost $600+.

The top cover needs to come off and a new "O" ring fitting to the cut-off shaft where it comes through the cover. Just be careful when you take off the top and be clean when you do it. If you prefer to take the Pump off the engine, scribe a mark across the Pump mounting and the flange it attaches too so that you can return the pump back to the same timing when you have repaired it. The Pump is driven by a small quill shaft and it is splined so that you cant get it wrong when you refit.Are you sure that it is the "O" ring leaking as this Pump was well known for leaking at the back of the top cover where you couldn't actually see what was the cause....John
