I recently purchased Harry Ferguson tractor. I was originally told that it was a TO-35. Did some checking on-line and, based on s/n, believe it is a TO-30. The serial number is TO-136993. It has apparently been changed over to a 12-volt system (very crudely). It has the starter switch integrated on the gear shifter. The tractor is red in color. When I checked the paint code online, I can't find where they were red. The paint appears to be original (I cannot find any other color under the red). Can someone please tell me if I am correct on model?

As others have said. Based on the SN you have a TO-30. The origonal color would have been all Gray.

There was no red on the Fergusons until 1958.

To double check... Look at the left center of the engine.

TO-30: has a Z-129 engine
TO-35: has a Z-134 engine.

TO-30: Has one lift lever (right side of seat)
TO-35: has two lift control levers

TO-30: has 1 gear shift 4 speeds and reverse
TO-35: has 2 gear shift. 3 positions and reverse + a High -Low Gear shift lever.

With that serial number, you have a TO-30. The tractors with serial numbers from TO 60001 to TO 140000 are TO-30's.

That serial number puts it as a 1954 TO 30 the other way you can also check under the dip stick should be a cast number Z 120 = TO 20---Z 129 = TO 30 unless engine had been changed. TO-TE-TEA were all grey no red. Welcome to the wonderful life of Fergie ownership. two books you should get are owners manual and Ferguson shop manual. As I have read from many other 1st time Ferguson owners they are hooked on Ferguson. Many very knowledgable people on this forum, bring all your questions here. don't forget to get pictures posted. good luck Richard

my mistake the TO-35 was red and grey.A nice website
besides this one is www.fergusonenthusiasts.com while you are there you may want to pull a membership application and send it in. It is only $15.00 a year and 5 issues of Ferguson Furrows is included. That web site and this forum are probably all you will need to know regarding a Ferguson.

Your tractor is either a Ferguson 20 or 30 if it has starter on gearshift. These tractors were origionally all grey. Mr. Bob
