I have seen several posts concerning the proper lubricant to use in the transmission/hydraulic system of the TO30. I'm still a little unclear. I
have heard to use 80/90 wt. oil (depending on temperature), and I have also heard to use straight mineral oil. Are these one and the same? If not, what should I use--80/90 wt. oil or mineral oil? I plan on changing mine soon and want to make sure I do the right thing. I really appreciate your help.

If you have Kendall oil in you area they have a product called Kentran 80 which is mineral and good for these tractors.

Michael,
Make sure you don't use 80/90 hypoid gear lube since it contains heavy metals such as lithium which can cause acids to form and damage your hydrualic pump over time. Most farm stores carry Ford lube for N series ford tractor this will work if you don't have an MF dealer in your area.

Good luck

Re comment on lithium. Is it ok to use litium based grease in these old tractors?

Thats right. 80/90W straight mineral oil. Sold by different names, ask the seller for specifics like Marlowe said.

Guys, thanks for all your advice. I went to my Massey-Ferguson dealer and bought the m1103 stuff. I will change the fluid today. I really appreciate all your help.
