Something went clunk

Well, I was out moving snow the other day with my TO 30 and keeping a watchful eye on the drip of oil coming from the rear seal area when there was a loud clunk sound from the engine. I stopped immediately and shut it down. Funny, UPS had just come the day before to drop off new seals, gaskets and a clutch but the snow came and we needed to get in and out of my 250ft driveway.

The bad news is the rear main bearing broke near the oil openings which is what was causing the seal leak and the clunk was from the #3 cylinder sleeve dropping a 1 1/2" chip into the pan. No coolant came through the O ring though.

A couple of days worth of work and we should be back together. What bothers me was I just went through a rebuild two years ago with new bearings all around. Oh well its only 54 years old

Your problems are not at all common. I would try to find out why it happened. Figuring out why now might save you time and money later. Good luck!
