Temp Gauge Brass Fitting- TO-30

Am Trying to replace my temp gauge,but was unable to
get the brass fitting out of the radiator elbow.Was scared to be too aggressive as I might round off the
edges of the soft brass fitting.Too close to gas tank to use a torch. Fitting is 5/8" was using an open ended wrench.Any tips on this delicate extrication would be most appreciated.

I'd follow Steve's advice. If your replacing the temp probe anyway, cut the capillary tubing and stick a 6 pt. socket on there.

It wouldn't hurt to hit that fitting with some heat (torch) once the capillary tubing is cut, but wouldn't put a torch on it with the tubing intact for fear of bursting the gauge.

Mark had a good idea, but my question is; if you're going to replace the entire temperature gauge system, why not just clip the capillary tube and use a box end wrench or six point socket and lots of penetrant?

Do have a set of "fuel line" wrenches?
5/8 is pretty large, but they make them.
These are similar to box end, but have the opening for the temp line, and will grap all the way around the brass fitting.
