I have 2 styles of stabilizer brackets under my fender mounting bolts. One is normal with 1 hole for the pin. The other is longer and has the hole and then a swivel ball outward of that about 2 inches. What is this for? The stabilizer brakets pins are designed to be opposite the swing arm mounting pins on the same dimensional center.

I believe ArleninOR is correct, it is used on the Dearborn mowing machine.

If you take it off you can no longer hook up your mower. Need to find a Dearborn mower and you will have a true set.

That bracket if I remember right was for the breakaway bracket on a dearborn cycle bar mower.I have some of those and a mower that came with one.

Guess I may just mount the swivel ball bracket during my final assembly in the up-coming month. It will be more authentic anyway. And I could use a sickle mower; if I can find one reasonable. Progress has been good on the tractor now as things are starting to come together. Coupled up the completely rebuilt engine this weekend, so looking a little like a tractor now. It has been a long 6 months working every day some on the project. But I did not cut any corners and attended to just about EVERYTHING that could be broken or in need of repair.

I had the same question. I have a 43 2N that has the same bracket you describe on the right, and a normal one on the left. I also have a spare one, right side only. I wonder if there is a ball style left bracket?? The spare bracket did come with a Ferguson TO-30 a while back, could it be Ferguson only, just happen to have one on a Ford??

I asked one "even-older-than-me" oldtimer and he said that the side mounted Ferguson implements used it but I've never seen anything that might use it except a mower. I suspect it might be handy for anchoring a front blade.

Seems that I am not the only one with such a bracket. Think I will omit putting this on my COMLETELY restored Ferguson and find a standard LH Bracket. Thank all of you for your inputs.

Hal, I have them on both my 1951 TO30 and my 1950 ford 8N. So I guess they were pretty common. Kirk
