TO30 Carburetor trouble...

Took apart the carb on my TO30. Soaked her for awhile and cleaned it all up. Ready to put back together... Only one small snag... Forgot which way the venturi goes. Can't remember whether the taper was up or down in the throttle bore. Rebuilt many a Zenith on my larger Massey's not to many Marvels... Anyone know this off hand... Any help would be appreciated...

If it don't work turn it around... No really we are all smiling because we've done the same thing. As I remember if you put it in the wrong way it doesn't seat quit right.

But I really cannot remember.

The Picture in the parts book does show it flaring upward. This also makes sense physically.

The venturi or choke tube as it is termed in my book [TE20]in the exploded view appears to be tapered.The wider part is uppermost.For what it's worth.

It"s been a while since I had one apart but as I remember(a dangerous ituation for me , remembering) I think that it only went together one way. If you put it together wrong, the top half and the fuel bowl wouldn"t go together or there was a wide gap around the gasket. I should have taken notes!

I was careful to take "before" pictures but unfortunately I erased them when I finished. As I recall, the venturi diameter is smaller at the bottom and increases smoothly as it goes up and Centaur may be right - it might be close but there should be just enough difference to help.
