I have a very narrow vineyard Fergie with a Perkins P3 diesel engine and 8 forward 2 reverse gears. 1957. Anyone know where I can get an engine manual for this?

Does anyone know if there is another tractor like this in the world?

Hi Robin can you tell me where the HI-Low selector lever is? that would determine what reduction box is fitted , one option is a Howard reduction Box with the selector lever being on the right hand round plate under the seat where the dip stick is the other option is a proper Ferguson reduction box built in a spacer behind the main gear box . If you dont mind telling me E-Mail me where you live as these narrow tractors were comon in the East coast of Scotland with the Howard box for use in Raspberries I have seen a few with P3 engines and the reduction box it must have made it a good bit more powerfull to work the rotovator . An other machine used in Scotland was The Halley Hoe designed and made in Scotland it was used to remove Rasp Spawn and weeds a slow box would have been handy for that machine also....

It probably has the same basic engine as a Ford Dexta of same vintage. Same engine was adapted to several other tractors as an aftermarket conversion. The narrow tractors were also made by Ford, at least up to the 3000 model. One that I've seen is a fairly rare Minneapolis Moline Model R, sold in France by Matthis, the same organization that had the Ford Car franchise for France til postwar. The cars were relabled Matfords, the tractors Mathis Molines.

Find the serial number of your tractor, if it's still there. Without the serial no. it will be difficult to identify. Manuals are available from the suppliers listed at the left column.
