I have a TEA20 with a standard gas engine and a cracked block. I am looking for information on any other engines that will bolt up to the bell housing. I was going to just strip this and keep the parts but the rest of the tractor is in pretty nice shape and I would like to put somethingelse in it and use it if anyone has any information please let me know. Thanks

Hello Chris. When it comes to the Standard engine in the tractor and the one used in the cars they are different. One thing is that the car engine does not have any hole for filling engine oil in the block, it is meant to be done from the valve cover. If I remember correct, the car engine has the hole for the starter on the right side, and the tractor on the left. And the bell housing accept only starter on the left side, unless you have a 20C diesel engine (TEF 20)

Pat.I've never compared the two, but the Triumph/Vanguard/Morgan engine has no governor but has a timing chain tensioner, so front end is different. It also has different provision for engine mounts so my guess the Fergy front end won't bolt on.

Sparex are good, as are BareCo. Both have distributors in the USA.

Nearly everything Ferguson one would want are also available from this site.

Pity Chris is not in Australia - any number of reasonable parted out Ferguson engines here, available very cheap. There's a few around where I live which would be available free, or at very most, a carton of beer, one of the common currencies here in the Aussie Outback!

Pat. The Triumph TR2, 3 and 4 engine is similar only, not the same. Parts are easy to obtain now, but maybe not in the USA.

thanks bob, I wasnt sure exactly what was the same on these, I know when I went for some parts at napa nd the like we looked up the triumph,, maybe it was mainly electrical and tuneup, thanks for clearing that up,, I believe parts are still hard to come by here unless you can find a[I believe its] sparex dealer,, have a good one pat

I lokked in my parts book, and the blocks are indeed two different units, I dont believe they will match up,, I have heard the some of the triumphs were the same engine, as alot of the parts would interchange,,, not sure on the whole block assy though,,

I had a TEA20,, parts were a bear to find for them,, she's gone now,, as far as I remember aside from body parts everything else was different than the te and to 20-30,,good luck pat

Chris says he has a TEA20 - Standard engine.
ArleninOr says he has a complete TE - Continental engine.

You would need to check with John (UK), but I'm fairly sure the Continental engine won't bolt straight up to the TEA20 tractor without modifications.

Chris, have you priced out a weld repair to the Standard engine? You may find it cheaper and less hassles to repair, rather than try to install a different engine.

Is the crack in a critical area? I've heard these old motors can somtimes be welded up and sent on their way.
