I just purchased a tractor that was in a fire. My question is how do you locate a serial number or something to tell me what model it is? The numbers I have found are Z129-333914. I have never owned a old tractor before and bought it to tinker with. Any help would be appreciated.

The serial Number is above the steering wheel on the dashboard and it will read soemething like TO- ABCDEF.
Since you have a Z129 engine, you have a TO-30 and the serial number will be between TO 60001 and TO 140000. A guys that posts on this forum(JiminOhio) has a correlation between engine serial number and year of manufacture in case you can"t find the tractor serial number. If you do find the serial number, go to theResearch & Info section to the left of the page, click on serial numbers and follow through to Ferguson, TO-30 etc and you can find the year of manufacture.

You come right here.

The number you give is a engine model number... Z129. That suggests you have a Ferguson TO-30.

The TO-30 is an early 1950"s tractor.

To nail it down further, the tractor data plate was attached to the dash just in front of the steering wheel. The serial number would be stampped into the top of this plate... If it is there.

The Engine also has a data plate that would be located on the left side above the coil and just below the #3 and #4 spark plugs. If you have the engine SN it may be possible give you a year of manufacture.

Bottom line you have a Ferguson TO-30 Tractor.

TO-30 manufactured from 1951 to 1954.
