My thanks to you guys for the info on 'to-30 starts sometime'. went thru everything you all said and now she starts...sometime! Seems like the 'new' battery is getting drained very fast. I charge it up run it for awhile and have to recharge it to start again. As before almost everything is new except the Delco 3wire alternator and the wires from there to the new starter switch, and new ignition switch. Could the alternator have a short or something that is draining th batt. I've checked the wires and they don't appear to be bare or touching anything they shouldn't. Polished all the connectons and ran a new ground wire from the neg. batt. terminal to the starter mount bolt.
I'm sure you guys will agree that once your confidence is deminished in a piece of equipment it takes awhile before you trust it again....that's where I'm at now.
Any more ideas I can work on?

Unhook the ground post at the battery. Connect a 12 volt test light between the battery and the cable. If it lights you have a drain.

Take the wiring apart until you isolate that drain.

Alternators do loose diodes and become a serious battery drain, sometimes. An alternator regulator not wired through a switch can also be a drain.

I second Geralds thought.
I replaced my alt. on my 93 Suburban with a "remanufactured" alt. My 'burb sits sometimes for 2 or 3 weeks without driving. It has all the fancy lights, 2 stereos, a TV, all the stuff that is cool when working, a Pain in the @#$ when not. I spend 5 hours trying to locate drain-found out it was a diode on my just replaced alt. Boy was I ticked off.
