Matt,
Glad to hear that you got your tractor back together. Your post didn't say if it is running yet. I just finshed the same thing that you did to the same tractor, a ground up rebuild/restoration. If it is not running yet, I would suggest that you run it for a while to get the bugs out of it and get everything adjusted right before the paint. As to your question, you are right. All the cast parts are flint metalic grey as well as the rear rims and floor boards. The rear wheel centers are red as well as the front wheels and the seat and most of the other sheet metal parts including the fuel tank. I put the tractor on high stands and removed the wheels and put the lug nuts back on the tractor. I disassembled the rear wheels to paint them and masked off the tires. I had access to a pressure washer and I chemically stripped mine to bare metal and started from scratch. I also replaced all of the rubber seals like the shifter boots and the boot around the third link attach point. It was a pain to remove the third link spring assy fromn the tractor but it is worth it to replace that seal which will allow water into the trans/rear end if it is bad. Little details make a big difference in appearance so I removed the hoses and fan belt and I chose to paint the starter and generator gloss black and the exhaust manifold heat resistant black. I doubt that this was authentic but is sure looks nice.
Good luck and happy painting.
