Just completed restoring 1948 TO-20 serial#81. Everything new or redone. Will post a picture soon. Just wanted to know if they make a battery holder down that is original?

I've been rebuilding my TO20 (rear seals, brakes, manifold, etc). Rotted battery tray fixed by fabricating 1/16 steel, then use thickened polyester resin and pop rivets onto original rotted piece. Solid as a rock (note, old tray supports one end of 90# fuel tank, so must be strong!). Will use nylon strap to hold battery in place.

I found one that was off a Ford it fit great. My needs to mount lengthwise and the ford one fit perfectly. I got mine at Fleet Farm here in WI. Here is is on this site under Ford 9N:(Part No: NCA10718A)

The cover you are looking for aer a little hard to find my To 30 still has the cover on it and still 6 volt good luck finding one

Phil-
If you need a battery tray and hold down to keep the battery in place, the universal plastic battery trays sold at auto parts stores work great and are cheap. They should also have in stock a universal j-hook hold down which will work with the tray. Note that these are universal parts, and you may have to be creative on how to secure them to your tractor. Also remember that adding the battery tray and hold down will decrease the clearance between the hood and the top of the battery, which means you may have to use a battery which is shorter top to bottom. as far as something that looks original goes, fabrication or finding one used may be the only options.

No one I know makes replacements of the pressed steel battery cover for the TO-20/30's the TO-35 battery tie down was a piece of angle bar stock.
