I am sure with in the last 3 months some one posted a picture on this forum of his tractor he just finished. I am thinking it was a TO 30. Several people asked him where he got the paint. He said Sherman Williams (I know he meant Sherwin Williams).I went to my S-W store today and they could not come up with any thing even after calling head-quarters. I am trying to get in touch with that person to try to find out how they made the paint for him. I have spent 1+ hours trying to find the article in the archives with no luck. Can any one help me? I know the S-W paint # is 1337 but that doesn't seem to help my S-W store. Thank you Richard

I was at the Fena site in order to get the paint number to tell my S-W store. Yes about 2-3 weeks before Christmas I sent my money to John in Bettendorf. I haven't heard anything yet. I figure it will take a little longer because of the time of the year. Jeff, my store people dug back into old samples and they found # 1337 but I don't want to paint my Fergie a light salmon color, probably the same as what your store came up with. Wayne, the reason I wanted to get in touch with the other person that posted his picture was several other posters said they thought that was a wonderful job of getting the right shade for a Fergie and I thought maybe he might remember or have the left over paint in the can with a number-name or something else that could help my store find what I am looking for. Yes I know they are mainly house paints however they have all types of paints.I now have to go check out pages 6-8-10 and see what Bendee found for me. Thanks all

Do you have your heart set on the SW paint? I don't know what you have in mind for paint but mine is in the tractor photos. Just look under Irv(IA) and see if that is the color you're wanting. I went to a automotive parts house and got mine. I just asked for paint for a Ferguson 20 and that's what I got. That is an epoxy primer and base coat- clear coat paint job..my first one. I really like the clear coat system....that stuff is REALLY tough, and shines forever. Very easy wash up, too.

Omni MB 32830 Nissan Grey
MR 187 slow reducer

Omni SV MC261 Urethane Clear
Omne MH 264 overall Hardener
Mixed 4 to 1

I think the color looks right but that's just a judgement call.

Hay auto parts store that sells and mixes auto paint not paint store that sells house paints.

Richard,

I just got off the phone with my local S-W store. The said the 1337 is an old color system number, but it is in the computer base...

That said I asked for the formulas for an Industrial Enamel base and what came up was a orangey tint for # 1337.

Was the store not able to find 1337 or was your expierence like mine in that it came up but was not the right color.

The mixes called for Black Maroon and Yellow... ie red and yellow make orange, black darkens it.

Paul may have some insite.

On the flip side they can do a color match from a quarter sized smooth sample. Thus if you can get someone who has recently completed a paint job perhaps they can provide you a color sample to be scanned.

Go to the FENA (Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America) web sight and look under paint color codes. They have lots of different brands for different budgets depending how fancy you want to get. Ya might as well register your tractor while you're there, and heck, ya might just want to join the club, too. We get a newsletter four times a year that has a lot of Ferguson history in it. We'd be glad to have you. Their sight is not right at the top of the page somtimes, so you might have to scroll a bit for it. And be sure and put a picture of your Fergy on here when you get it done. We'd love to see it.
