 z120- 129 blocks in reply to buddy41099, 12-22-2007 19:08:36
i just put a 129 block into a to 20. I learned there are many differences in these blocks, including the center cam brg oil. original to 20 cam should not be used in to-30. Switching blocks must be done with exteme care, and I found the oem ferg shop manual is so much better than i-t. I have several oem ferg manuals if you need something.

Buddy, I presume your talking about the wicking packing material that gets jambed into the grooves on each side of the rear bearing cap. The only time you should have to mess with that is if you have had the rear bearing cap out. To install the packing, install the bearing first, the pack the wicking in dry using a blunt tool, like a screwdriver with the tip ground down. Use a mallet to help pack the wicking in tight on each side of the bearing.
If your talking about the rear main crank seal, that is not a rope seal like in some other tractors. It was originally leather, the replacements are rubber & look like modern rear seals. It is pressed into a retainer plate that is bolted to the backside of the engine block.
