TE-20 Hydraulic Lift

My hydraulic lift has started to raise when any type of lifting pressure is applied. I.E., I can raise it by hand whether it is engaged or not. It will still lower or raise when I engage it but I think something is wrong. Any suggestions what could be causing this? Corrective action that can be taken?

It sounds as though everything is normal to me. The lift arms are connected by a shaft to a rod inside the cover. That rod sits against the back of the hydraulic piston but is not attached to it. So when you lift up on the arms you are not pulling the piston and so get no resistance.

Neal is right. The H. Ferguson tractors do not have any down pressure, only lift pressure. If you have the PTO engaged, and can lift on the arms manually to cause the lift to activate, the master control spring is not adjusted properly. With an implement on the tractor,raised, the spring should be snug, but loose enough to rotate by hand. Keep on tru- tractorin!

yeh, they're right. My Ferguson does the same thing, but it's perfectly normal.
