We currently have a red MF35 massey ferguson tractor with a gold motor, petrol, sitting in the shed. We are wondering what is it worth and is it true that the gold motor models are hard to come by.

I know of one MF35 like you are describing. I believe it is a 1962 MF35. A friend of mine bought it then discovered it was a Red and Gold model he did some research and found that MF painted some of the MF35's this way for some kind of Massey Harris and Massey Ferguson anniversary model. As far as value. I don't believe it would bring a higher price than any other MF35 unless you found a collector who was interested in one.
In this picture it is the last 35 on the right. The colors may not come out to visible but you can get some idea of what it looks like. If you would like to discuss this any further e-mail me at RFisherT1(at)aol(dot)com

The grey and Bronze FE35 was only made for a couple of years and then changed to Red and Grey like all the others, it is the same tractor otherwise. Is it a Standard Motors engine and is it diesel?

It could also be a FE-35, pictured. Though the FE-35 had some styling changes compared to the TO-35.

Just a guess.....

If it is a Z-134 engine it may come from a MH-50
which the power train was gold and the sheet metal was red in the fifties.
