TE hood design issue

I just picked up a TEA-2085. It has the "V" rod hood support. My TE-20 is missing this part. One thing I noticed is that because the brace in the TEA does not ride smoothly in the tracks it has the tendency to flatten the hood out. i.e. the hood near the dash has more of a flattened shape where the sides are flared out away from the tractor centerline.

The other issue I am finding is that the brace will sometimes bind on one side not allowing the hood to be lifted, and deforming it severly.

A little elbow grease and oil should fix my issues. I just find it interesting that this design weakness is not something you'd ever see in the factory, yet it is very real for the customer.

Anyone else out there notice this?

Providing the tracks for the rod are straight and not damaged they are usually ok, maybe they can d with a little lubrication from time to time but other than that they were never an issue. That hood stay is available over here in the UK again from a number of suppliers...John

Mine tends to bind a bit just as I'm starting to raise it. If I reach over the tractor and pull outward gently on both sides at the same time, it will go. I've got to look into this as it's very awkward opening it this way unless I'm actually sitting on the machine.

Mt TE 20 (28383) has this rod, but I've never noticed a problem, other than it has had a binding issue. I never forced it. I greased the track pretty good, so no more problem.
I saw the rod you need for sale - I think it was on EBay.

Yea, they do come up from time to time. I also knopw where one is in the Junk yards...
