Steering Arm Seals

Friend has a TO20, 1951. Needs the seals for steering arms at housing. Looked all over the net and here on YT, but can not find the seals. Possible that Massey Ferguson dealer has them or does anyone know where can get them.

My 51 TEA20 steering box appears to have been emptied and given the grease treatment long ago. Steering action seems fine but I understand the machine saw only light usage the last few years before I got it. (The steering box is about the only thing that ain't dripping oil!)

Are we talking about the steering box? You can buy complete new kits for those if you have a TO-35, I just installed them on my machine.

Go to any bearing house and ask for: CR13027 1.31 x 1.875 x .375. Perfect fit, but doesn't have the 'flanged' portion that mates to the outside edge of the casing. If authenticity is desired, use a dremel to cut the 'flange' off the old seal and epoxy it to the face of the new seal (after you press the seal into its bore).

If the TO20 has the same steering box seals as the TEA20, they are not available as a Ferguson part.

However, given the dimensions, any good bearing shop should be able to supply them. John (UK) gave me the original bearing dimensions and the seals were easy to locate.

If the TO20 has the same "centering points" on the steering drop arms as the TEA20, you will need to carefully grind them off in order to install the new seals without damage.

I purchased my seals at the Agco place that handles MF parts. But the guy said that the seals that he gave me were for a different piece of equipment, so they must not be an odd size. Anyway they worked well for me. No more leaks. I would think that a bearing supply place or even an auto parts place could probably get them for you if you know the dimensions. I think that I saved the box if you want the brand and part number.

I have often found what I needed in a good (BEARING and SEAL place) or NAPA for the tie rod end seals.They have an assortment of (rubber seals)for a gear shift levers etc.CENTAUR

I looked for a couple months and after buying 2 different ones that didn't work I followed advice from some of the guys on this forum. I cleaned it up and filled the whole thing with grease. I don't know if it would be a problem in very cold weather but it sure solved my problem. Jack

I too had leaking stearing box arm seals. I pumped all the old oil out and replaced it with soft John Deere Corn head grease.
No more leak and it does just fine in cold weather. By the way if you heat the grease tubes in hot water, it goes down the funnel easily.
