I am looking for left rear axle for TE20. I have earlier 16 spline.

The S/N tag says TE33835. The axle has 16 splines. Also the engine is a Continetal. The axle was installed with no shims and the little button on the end was worn off.I would like to replace the axle if possible to find a replacement. We plan to make this a working tractor.

You must want one from a TEA not a TE20 as that was only 16 splines. ...John

Hey John, I just posted a response and another question on a previous discussion toward the bottom of the screen, "Motor oil question..." by Berryville. I am wondering if it is ok to change the oil filter(still using the original cartridge type)on my gas powered TO-35 at every other oil change. I am wondering this because I change the oil every 15-20 hours of operation which is way sooner than most people do. What do you think?

It is more than OK doing it that way, on a gas powered engine they used to recommend oil changes at 120 hours, so I think you more than meet that criteria, don"t you....John

John, I am not A Ferguson expert! The tractor I am working on has TE on the s/n plate. I do not know the difference between a TE & TEA, I am fixing for a friend. I look to this forum for information. Any advise is appreciated. The rear axles were put together without shims by previous owner causing damage to the left axle. I am trying to put back in good running order.

The difference between the TE and the TEA is the make of the engine. On a TE (Continental Z120)the oil filler is at the front left side, on the TEA (Standard Motors engine) the oil filler is on the left rear side. If it says the complete number on your serial tag plate then that is what the Tractor is:- TE***** is a TE20 TEA**** is a TEA20....that is unless someone has played around with the engines and fitted the wrong one....which happens. If as you say the axle shaft has 19 splines then it is from a TEA or 20/85 (same tractor but different name) as they never used them on a TE so someone could have swapped the whole back-end..(that happens too)they changed to 19 splines at serial number 325001 (1953)Just email if you get in a knot with it all...John

Donald,

Here is how to tell the difference between a TE-20 and a TEA-20. The difference is the engine manufacturer.

What is the full SN of your tractor? TE #####?

And based on the picture do you have a Standard Motor or a Continental motor?
